Barca star becomes club’s first La Liga player of the month
Neymar has become the first Barcelona player to be awarded the official La Liga player of the month award.
Despite having finished in the top two in each of the last two campaigns since the award's inception, no Barcelona player had won it up until this point.
In fact, Atletico Madrid lead the way with six winners, with Real Madrid and Celta Vigo behind them with three winners each.
However, Neymar has finally ended a strange duck for Barcelona, capping off a fine month for the youngster who has emerged as their star player in the absence of Lionel Messi.
The Brazil international has been in sublime form since the start of the season and finished November as the highest ranked player, not only in La Liga, but across Europe’s top five leagues (9.82).
Neymar scored five goals and registered two assists in three games in November.

I thought this was the strangest thing I've read all day, but then I remember that this is the award committee that literally invents new awards so Real Madrid players can win something, and that puts things into perspective.
