Nice have announced Mario Balotelli has put pen to paper on a new 12-month deal keeping him at the club until the end of next season.
Balotelli joined the Ligue 1 outfit on an initial one-year deal last summer and was a relative success for Lucien Favre’s side as they finished third in the table.
There were doubts whether the Italy international would stay with Nice or use them as a springboard to find a bigger club in the same way Hatem Ben Arfa did last summer.
However, Nice have announced they have renewed Balotelli’s contract and the 26-year-old will return to first-team training on Monday as the French side gear up for their Champions League qualifiers next month.
Despite being sent off three times in Ligue 1 last season, Balotelli reached 15 league goals in a single campaign for the first time in his career last season.
