Real Madrid will open talks with Athletic Club about the signature of Kepa Arrizabalaga this week, reports Marca, via Football Espana.
Kepa has entered the final six months of his existing deal and is unlikely to renew with Athletic Club after being earmarked as a top January target by Madrid.
Athletic Club are desperate to keep the 23-year-old and will demand Madrid pay his full €20m (£17.8m) release clause to prise him away this month.
Madrid have previously been heavily linked with moves for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois but Kepa’s impending transfer would certainly end those rumours.
Of goalkeepers aged 23 and under to have made at least 10 appearances in Europe’s top five leagues this season, only three have a better WhoScored rating than Kepa (6.82).
As a more to Madrid seems inevitable, it's worth investing in Kepa early on Football INDEX to reap the biggest profit. His share price is only £0.55 at the moment but will only increase when a deal is concluded.
