Liverpool close in on Bayern midfielder

Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has intimated he wants to work with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer, according to The Daily Express.

Gotze is expected to leave Bayern at the end of the season after falling down the pecking order completely under Pep Guardiola since he scored the winner in the World Cup final in 2014.

The Germany international has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool since Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers in October and it now appears a deal could become a reality in the coming months.

The 23-year-old will only have one year remaining on his contract in the summer, which would allow Liverpool to sign the versatile midfielder for a cut-price deal in the region of £20m.

Gotze has been limited to just 471 minutes of league action this season, but has still contributed towards four goals in that time (one goal + three assists).
