Arsenal are looking to acquire the services of Boca Juniors youngster Cristian Pavon in the New Year, reports the Sun on Sunday.
The Argentine has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, though any transfer failed to materialise 12 months ago.
However, the Gunners could now return for Pavon next month following the culmination of the Copa Libertadores, which Boca Juniors ultimately lost 5-3 on aggregate to rivals River Plate.
Unai Emery previously wasn’t looking to add to his squad in January, but Danny Welbeck’s season ending ankle injury is believed to have forced the Spaniard’s hand.
Lille star Nicolas Pepe has been strongly linked with a switch to London next month, however Arsenal could elect to reignite their interest in Pavon as Emery aims to add another attacking to his squad.
The highly rated 22-year-old has struggled for regular game time this season, though, having battled a niggling hamstring issue, which almost forced him to miss the second leg Copa Libertadores final meeting with River Plate at the Bernabeu.
Arsenal would have to spend upwards of £40m to convince Boca Juniors, who are braced for a raft of interest in Pavon, to sell one of their prized assets.
