Marseille manager Rudi Garcia is making huge strides in convincing West Ham star Dimitri Payet to make a sensational return to the Ligue 1 outfit, reports France Football, via Get French Football.
Payet, 28, has been heavily linked with a January move away from West Ham this month following their disastrous start to the season and the Hammers wouldn’t be short of interest in their best player should he become available.
However, Marseille, who sold Payet to West Ham in a deal worth around £10m in the summer of 2015, are determined to re-sign the France international as they continue to re-build the club under their new ownership.
Garcia has personally taken the task of landing Payet to hand and is understood to be close to convincing Payet to return to France after engaging in talks with his representatives for more than a month.
Despite West Ham’s struggles in the Premier League this season, Payet has still created more chances than any other player this term (74).
