Paris Saint-Germain star refuses to rule out Barcelona move

Marco Verratti insists he is happy at Paris Saint-Germain but has refused to rule out a move to Barcelona in the future.

Barcelona pushed hard to sign Verratti at the end of last season but failed in their attempts to prise the Italy international away from PSG.

Their pursuit of Verratti triggered the start of a catastrophic summer for the Spanish giants as PSG responded by signing Neymar in a world-record fee.

It seems unlikely that Barcelona would risk potential embarrassment in rekindling their interest in Verratti any time soon, but the 25-year-old has refused to rule out ever moving to the Camp Nou.

“Barcelona? I don’t know, I am happy here in Paris,” Verratti told Premium Sport, via AS after PSG’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

“I believe in this project and I hope to stay here long. Maybe PSG will sell me but let’s see.”

Verratti is widely regarded as one of the best technical midfielders in Europe and his playing still is certainly synonymous with Barcelona's philosophy.

In fact, only Napoli midfielder Jorginho (95.7) averages more passes per game than Verratti (92.4) in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
