Tottenham have earmarked a January move for Ajax shot-stopper Andre Onana as a replacement for captain Hugo Lloris, claims The Sun.
Lloris is sidelined until the new year after dislocating his elbow in Tottenham’s defeat to Brighton at the start of October.
The 2018 World Cup winner, who did not require surgery, had endured a tough start to the season and Tottenham now have one eye on the future.
Paulo Gazzaniga has deputised in Lloris’ absence but Tottenham are weighing up a potential move for Ajax’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Onana, who is valued in the region of £35m, was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer before David de Gea pledged his long-term future to the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old has caught the eye following some impressive Champions League displays since the beginning of last season.
In fact, only two goalkeepers (2+ appearances) have a higher WhoScored rating in the Champions League this season than Onana (7.36).
Furthermore, only Marco Bizot (22) has kept more clean sheets than Onana (20) in the Eredivisie since the beginning of last season.
