Chelsea in talks with experienced France international

Chelsea have held talks with Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda in a bid to sign him as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy for next season, claims The Guardian.

The 31-year-old, who is currently on duty with the France squad at Euro 2016, has entered the final month of his current deal with Marseille and will leave in the summer.

With Mandanda in Chelsea’s sights, it would seem almost inevitable that Asmir Begovic will leave the Blues just a year after joining from Stoke in an £8m switch.

Since August 2010 only Stephane Ruffier (604) has made more saves in Ligue 1 than Mandanda (534).
