Galatasaray open to offers for Sneijder

Galatasaray are actively looking to sell veteran Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder, according to the club’s sporting director.

Sneijder, 32, has spent the last three years with the Turkish giants after joining from Inter in 2013, although he has been linked with a return to one of Europe’s main leagues for the majority of that time.

The Netherlands international has entered the final two years of his existing deal, which is due to expire at the end of next season, but Cenk Ergun, the club’s sporting director, has revealed the club are open to offloading him before his expiry date.

“I read a lot lately about Wesley,” he told TMW Radio, via Football Oranje. “I understand that a player of his stature has been sought after by many clubs around the world.

“At the moment he is satisfied with his stay at Galatasaray. The feeling is mutual. You never know what happens when the doors of the transfer market will open again. If there is a bid, we will of course look at it seriously.”

In the last three Turkish Super Lig campaigns only Cicinho (159) and Mehmet Ekici (140) have created more chances than Sneijder (136).
