Chelsea will launch stunning £100m January bid for Serie A star

Chelsea want to sign Inter captain Mauro Icardi in a stunning £100m deal in January, reports The Sun.

Antonio Conte still wants to sign another striker to work in tandem with Alvaro Morata after failing to reunite with Fernando Llorente over the summer.

The Italian does not completely trust Michy Batshuayi and wants to prise Icardi away from San Siro when the January transfer window opens.

Chelsea would have to make Icardi the most expensive player in Premier League history to convince Inter to part ways with their talisman halfway through the campaign.

However, Icardi would reportedly prefer to join Real Madrid if he were to leave Inter, which could prove a major stumbling block in Chelsea’s pursuit.

Icardi has made a sensational start to the season and is currently spearheading Inter’s unlikely title challenge.

In fact, only Ciro Immobile (14) has scored more Serie A goals this term than the Inter No.10 (11).
