Rafa Benitez is set to remain as Newcastle United manager next season and is on the verge of signing a new three-year deal, according to The Daily Mirror.
The Spaniard started the season managing Real Madrid but is now set to start August as a Championship boss after failing to secure Newcastle’s safety in the final few weeks of the campaign.
Benitez has reportedly already agreed terms on a new three-year deal but will hold further talks with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley this week to finalise a new structure at the club that will give him more control over transfers.
Newcastle ended the season six matches unbeaten for the first time since 2012 (March-April), but it was not enough to ensure their Premier League status.
