Nottingham Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi has denied reports the club have accepted a bid from Championship rivals Burnley for Henri Lansbury.
According to Sky Sports News, Burnley’s bid of £4m for the Forest midfielder was accepted on Monday, but Al-Hasawi refuted those claims on Twitter last night.
“I would like to make it clear that we have not accepted any bid for Henri Lansbury,” Forest’s chairman wrote on his official Twitter account. “As is the case with any of our players, the manager must be consulted and a replacement identified before I accept the bid.
“Dougie [Freedman] and I will make the decision that is best for #NFFC. To our supporters, I ask for calm. I am still working hard in difficult circumstances to help Dougie improve the squad. This will take time.”
Lansbury, 24, has spent the last three years at the City ground and finished the last campaign as Forest’s third top goalscorer in the Championship (10). In fact, no Forest player has scored more goals in the Championship than the former Arsenal midfielder in the last two years (17).
