Erik Lamela has revealed he wants to become the next Tottenham player to sign a new deal with the club.
Tottenham have already announced new contracts for seven first team players including the likes of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
Lamela, 24, was lambasted in his debut season following his £30m arrival from Roma in 2013 but has since developed into an integral member of the squad under Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentina international, who has two fixed years remaining on his existing deal, insists he is happy at Tottenham and keen to renew terms with the club.
“I would like to [sign a new deal] because I am very happy here,” Lamela told The London Evening Standard. “I feel part of this team which is improving. I have a group of excellent teammates and I feel very good around them.
“It would make me happy to play for more years in this shirt. Will I be the next to sign? Let’s hope so. At the moment I am thinking only of playing and about Saturday’s game against Leicester.”
Lamela has reportedly been in discussions about a new deal for some time although it was suggested the tenacious winger was demanding twice his current £60,000-a-week wages.
Since the start of last season only Idrissa Gueye (80) have committed more fouls in the Premier League than Lamela (79).
