Borussia Dortmund midfielder ruled out indefinitely

Borussia Dortmund have announced Mario Gotze has been ruled out indefinitely after suffering metabolic disturbances in the last few months.

Gotze, 24, is now unlikely to take part for the remainder of the campaign as the Bundesliga outfit carry out a comprehensive internal investigation into what is causing the midfielder the problems.

The Germany international has struggled to rediscover his best form since returning to Dortmund from Bayern Munich at the start of the season and had been linked with a move away from the club this summer as a result.

“I’m currently undergoing treatment and will do everything in my power to be back in training and helping my team to achieve our common goals as soon as possible,” Gotze told Dortmund’s official website.

Gotze has only started nine league games this season and has only managed to play a direct hand in two goals in that time.
