Higuain ruled out of Juventus’ crucial Champions League clash

Juventus have been served a blow ahead of their huge match against Sevilla in the Champions League after confirming club record signing Gonzalo Higuain would not travel to Spain with the team.

Max Allegri’s side enter Tuesday’s match two points behind group leaders Sevilla and must win to have any realistic chance of finishing the stage as group winners.

Juventus are already without injured star Paulo Dybala leaving the Serie A champions with Mario Mandzukic as their only fit recognised striker. Now they are without Higuain, who picked up a thigh strain at the weekend.

Waiting in the wings is highly rated 16-year-old Moise Kean, but a game of this magnitude would seem a huge game to throw the teenager in to.

Instead, Allegri could revert to a 4-3-3- formation that they have already used this season and push Alex Sandro further forward to flank Mandzukic along with Juan Cuadrado.

In 17 matches in the league and Europe, Higuain has scored nine goals for Juventus following his £75.3m.
