Watch: Podolski score screamer in final ever game for Germany

Lukas Podolski signed off his international career in the most fitting way possible for a player adored by Germany, scoring a stunning winner in a 1-0 win over arch rivals England on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old made his 130th and final cap for the German national side before waving goodbye to European football to embark on his next adventure with Japanese side Vissel Kobe.

Podolski was made captain for Joachim Low’s friendly against England and after having a few sighters blocked during the match, the former Arsenal forward finally made the breakthrough with a stunning 25-yard effort that left Joe Hart with no chance in the England goal.

It was Podolski’s 49th goal in international football and you’ll be hard pressed to find someone score a better strike in their final ever appearance for their country. Courtesy of ITV Football, you can relive the moment Podolski gave Germany a fortunate victory over England.
