Tottenham bid accepted for Real Betis star Lo Celso

Tottenham have finally had a bid accepted for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, claims Spanish newspaper Sevilla ABC.

Lo Celso has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham all summer after Mauricio Pochettino earmarked the midfielder as a long-term replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Talks appeared to cool midway through the transfer window but Tottenham have finally made a decisive breakthrough in negations with just under 24 hours left in the window for English clubs.

There are no details on the size of Tottenham’s improved offer, though Betis have been holding out for £64.5m for the versatile 23-year-old.

Betis paid in the region of €22m to sign Lo Celso from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent basis in April and now stand to make a huge profit on the Argentina international.

Lo Celso is poised to become Tottenham’s second high profile arrival of the summer following their club-record deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Of players that made at least five Europa League appearances last season, Lo Celso was the highest WhoScored rated player in the competition (7.80).
