Liverpool star set for bumper new deal

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is set to be rewarded for his fine form with a new five-year deal, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian has been one of the Premier League's most consistent goalkeepers following his arrival from Roma back in 2018 and played a key role in their 2019/20 title success.

In his three years in England, Alisson has kept 44 Premier League clean sheets, a return bettered only by Manchester City number one and compatriot Ederson (55).

And it's only a matter of time before Liverpool confirm Alisson's new contract, which will take him up to 2026.

The 28-year-old started 33 of Liverpool's 38 league matches in 2020/21, and was the only goalkeeper to score a Premier League goal last season, netting the decisive goal in the Reds' 2-1 win at West Brom in mid-May.

After a disappointing title defence, Liverpool are hoping the right investment will see them challenge Manchester City for their Premier League crown.

They have already confirmed the signing of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig, while the return of Virgil van Dijk will be a huge boost for the Reds.
