Ivan Toney Transfer News: Brentford boss reveals why striker won't face Crystal Palace

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has revealed why Ivan Toney has been dropped for today's London derby against Crystal Palace.

Toney, who was part of the England setup at Euro 2024, was expected to lead the line for the Bees against the Eagles today.

The striker has been linked with a move away from west London this summer but so far no deal has materialised.

However, Frank has told Sky Sports that the reason Toney wasn't included in today's matchday squad to take on Palace was due to "transfer interest".

"There’s a lot of things going on with Ivan, there’s some transfer interest. Because of all that, we decided not to involve him in the squad," Frank said ahead of today's game.

"It's the classic one - I couldn't give too much the day before. He's been a fantastic player for us, but we showed last year especially that we can deal without him."

When asked if this is the end of Ivan Toney in a Brentford shirt, Frank added: "Who knows? There's interest, but there's nothing close."

Toney has been linked with summer moves to Tottenham and Manchester United, who have already signed Dominic Solanke and Joshua Zirkzee, respectively.
