Juventus CEO Marotta hints at possible move for defender

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has hinted that the Serie A giants will make a move for PSG centre-back Thiago Silva at the end of the season, reports Rai, via Goal.com.

The Brazilian’s contract expires at the end of the season and the player’s agent has suggested that a return to Italy is on the cards should his future not be resolved by December.

Such news has alerted Juventus, who could tempt Silva to return to Italy next summer in a bid to continue to strengthen.

"Thiago Silva is an exceptional player and I don't know what PSG's intentions are for the future," Marotta is quoted as telling Rai.

"It could be an opportunity like we had in the past to go for Pirlo. A player considered by many to be 'finished', but proved to be a great deal on a free transfer for us."

Silva, 32, moved to PSG in 2012 and has helped the Parisian giants to four successive Ligue 1 titles during his time at the club.
