Everton are leading the race to secure Jordan Pickford from relegated Sunderland, according to the Daily Mirror.
Pickford has been a quality performer for the Black Cats this season, with his WhoScored rating (7.13) better than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League.
Following Sunderland’s relegation, there’s expected to be ample interest in the young England hopeful with a host of Premier League sides keen on Pickford.
Arsenal had been heavily linked with a move for the 23-year-old as a possible replacement for Petr Cech, but it’s thought Everton have won the race to secure his services.
Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is looking to improve his goalkeeping options, with the Dutchman unhappy with Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles this season.
Kasper Schmeichel has been linked with a switch to Goodison Park, yet Koeman believes Pickford is the more attainable option with a £20m switch in the offing with Sunderland determined to retain the services of one of their prized assets.
It's no wonder, with Pickford making the second most saves (120) in England's top tier this term.
