Toby Alderweireld is losing his battle to recover in time for Tottenham’s North London derby at the weekend, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The Belgium international has missed Tottenham’s last four matches after being stretchered off against West Brom on the hour mark of their 1-1 draw midway through October.
Tottenham have failed to win since then and Alderweireld’s recovery has been slower than expected despite the fact no knee ligament damage was discovered in his scan results.
Mauricio Pochettino had hoped Alderweireld would recover in time for important fixtures against Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal, but he is losing his race to recover in time before the international break.
In 46 Premier League appearances for Tottenham Alderweireld has committed just 12 fouls, accentuating his statistically calculated strength of ‘concentration’.
