West Brom manager confirms interest in Liverpool striker

West Brom manager Alan Pardew has confirmed he is interested in signing Liverpool striker Danny Ings in January, reports The Daily Mail.

Ings has a number of clubs chasing his signature in January as a move away from Anfield beckons next month.

Two serious knee injuries have restricted Ings to just three Premier League starts in three seasons for Liverpool and he has dropped down the pecking order in that time.

While he remains a valued member of the squad, Ings will almost certainly have to leave to find regular playing time and Pardew has confirmed an interest in the 25-year-old.

“I’d be foolish not to say I don’t like Danny Ings because I quite like him,” The Daily Telegraph quote Pardew as saying. “It’s a shame about his injury – he’s had a battle back and everyone wishes him well.

“I haven’t even looked at January this weekend because of the tight schedule of games. But I have seen Nicky Hammond to pencil in a meeting to talk about that this week so maybe on Friday I can give you a bit more of where we’re looking and what we’re looking at.”

West Brom travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Wednesday night but Ings is not expected to feature in any capacity. He came off the bench in Sunday’s Merseyside derby to get his first eight minutes of Premier League action this season, but is unlikely to build on that against the Baggies.

Only Swansea (9) have scored fewer Premier League goals than West Brom (12) this season.
