Real Madrid identify Premier League boss as Zidane replacement
Real Madrid want to prise Jurgen Klopp away from Liverpool if they decide to sack Zinedine Zidane at the end of the season, claims The Sun.
The Spanish giants have endured a miserable season and are now pinning all of their hopes on winning a record third straight Champions League title to salvage their campaign.
Madrid were eliminated in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals by Leganes and currently languish 16 points behind Barcelona in the league and four adrift of city rivals Atletico Madrid.
Zidane’s side appear to have hit top gear since the turn of the year but the Frenchman’s future at the club is far from certain even if they win the Champions League.
Madrid are weighing up alternatives to Zidane in the summer and have earmarked Liverpool boss Klopp as a top target.
The German’s reputation enhanced considerably after Liverpool’s mauling of Manchester City in the Champions League last week and the Reds could face a fight to keep him at the club.
Since taking over as Liverpool manager in October 2015, Klopp has a win ratio of 52.7% in all competitions.
