Barcelona star Lionel Messi will pen a new deal with the Blaugrana when he returns from his honeymoon later this month, reports Goal.com.
Messi, who married long-time partner Antonela Roccuzzo last week, has just 12 months left to run on his current contract at Camp Nou.
Barcelona have been understandably keen to tie the Argentina international down to a new deal for some time now and while he had been set to return to Catalonia over the weekend, has instead jetted off to the Caribbean until mid-July.
The 30-year-old forward will sign a new contract until 2021, with the option of a further season, and will see him pick up €22m per year after tax.
While Messi couldn’t fire Barcelona to league or continental glory, the Argentine still ended the season on a high as he lifted the Copa Del Rey following a 3-1 win over Alaves.
He impressed in his own right too, winning more WhoScored man of the match awards (16) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues last season, with 37 goals and 11 assists contributing to his fine form.
