Crystal Palace have begun talks with Dwight Gayle over extending the striker’s stay at Selhurst Park, reports The Guardian.
Gayle, 24, has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth since he joined from Peterborough in the summer of 2013 and had looked set to leave the club over the summer.
However, the forward resisted offers from the Championship to stay with Palace and is now set for a new long-term contract, with his current deal set to expire in two years.
The Palace striker scored a hat-trick in their League Cup win over Charlton last week, but has only managed to feature in 152 minutes of Premier League action so far this season.
