Leicester have made a club-record bid for Brazil striker Gabriel Barbosa, reports the Guardian.
The Foxes have been strongly linked with a move for Gabigol in recent weeks, with the youngster attracting interest from Juventus, Inter and Barcelona.
However, Premier League champions Leicester are now hoping to steal a march on their rivals and have offered £23m for the striker
Gabigol has a contract with Santos until 2019 and while reports had suggested he had extended his stay until 2021, that proved to not be the case.
The Brazilian, who is currently with the national team at the Olympics with his future not expected to be decided until the games, has scored five goals from 10 starts in the Brasileirao this season.
If Leicester do with the race to sign the forward, he would become the club's record signing, currently set by Ahmed Musa who joined from CSKA Moscow this summer.
