Chelsea midfielder pens new long-term deal

Chelsea have announced highly rated midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal to keep him at the club until 2021.

Loftus-Cheek, 20, has been tipped as the brightest talent in the Chelsea academy in recent years and has featured regularly in their first-team squads this season.

The Chelsea midfielder, who has made 13 senior appearances, has the ability to play deep and more advanced in the middle and is now looking to establish himself as a first-team regular.

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract at Chelsea and my focus is on working hard in training every day in order to push on and establish myself in the team,” Loftus-Cheek told the club’s official website.

"It really means a lot because this shows the club believe in me so I’m really happy.”

“The club have done so much for me since I started here as an Under-8 and now I want to repay the faith they’ve shown in me with my performances on the pitch.”
