Manchester United manager rules out forward signing in the summer
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed he will not be in the market for another forward in the summer following Alexis Sanchez’s arrival last month.
Mourinho’s side pulled off a major coup by beating Manchester City to the signature of Sanchez and now the United manager claims his attack line is complete after Juan Mata extended his contract last week.
“We have Alexis, Lukaku, Martial, Rashford,” The Daily Mirror quote Mourinho as saying. “Rashford can play on the left and the right, Alexis is exactly the same.
“All of them apart from Lukaku can play from behind as the second striker. That’s why I say that it’s bad for you [the Press] because you like to have things to write about, especially in the summer.
“But I don’t want attacking players, so don’t speak about attacking players who are coming here because nobody is coming here.”
Sanchez’s arrival has completely transformed United’s transfer plans, as Mourinho no longer needs to sign a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer.
The Chile international can play right across the attack line and means Mourinho can now focus on strengthening other areas of the squad.
United cut City’s lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points over the weekend after Pep Guardiola’s side only managed a 1-1 draw away to Burnley.
