Liverpool have completed the signing of Christian Benteke for £32.5m after the Belgium international passed the final stage of his medical on Tuesday, the club have announced.
Benteke, 24, has signed a five-year deal at the club, becoming Liverpool’s second most-expensive signing of all time.
The Belgian forward will remain at Melwood alongside fellow summer signing Roberto Firmino, rather than fly out to meet the rest of his Liverpool teammates on their pre-season tour of Australasia.
The former Villa forward has been one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League since his arrival in 2012. In fact, only three strikers have scored more goals in that time than Benteke (42).
