Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick is hopeful his future at Old Trafford will be resolved before the end of the season.
Carrick, 34, has entered the final few months of his current deal at Old Trafford and there have yet been no signs it will be extended.
The England international has endured a frustrating campaign as he has struggled for form and fitness this season.
He did enjoy arguably his best performance of the season in the Manchester derby win on Sunday, however, and Carrick admits he remains hopeful he will be offered a new deal, extending his 10-year stay at the club.
“I am not sure yet to be honest. I haven’t heard anything [about a new deal] just at the moment, no. Hopefully [I will hear] some time soon,” Carrick told The Guardian.
“I have been here a long time, I have had some great times here [since 2006] and I love the club. It’s a great place to play. Playing games like against City keeps you having that buzz and enthusiasm to play for longer.
“I am not making a big deal of it, to be honest. I will just have to wait and see what happens. I am quite relaxed about it.
Despite struggling for form this season, United’s win ratio is actually significantly better with him in the starting XI in the league. Louis van Gaal’s side have won 52.9% of the 17 league games that Carrick has started (9) compared to a win ratio of just 38.5% from the games in which he hasn’t started.
