Tottenham are considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, reports The Sun.
Johnstone returned to Villa Park last summer following a successful six-month loan stint with the Midlands side and his form between the sticks has been key in the Villans’ promotion push.
His good performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, with Johnstone expected to be plying his trade in the Premier League next season, either at Villa or elsewhere.
Spurs are now pondering a move for the on-loan shotstopper as Mauricio Pochettino looks to improve his goalkeeping options.
Hugo Lloris is considered the club’s number one, but a dip in form in recent weeks has led to suggestions that Pochettino will bolster at the back when the transfer window opens.
At 34 years of age, Michel Vorm is also expected to leave the club at the end of the season, with a return to the Netherlands on the cards.
Johnstone will be available on a free transfer too and the 25-year-old could be a handy addition to the Spurs side.
