Yaya Toure passes medical ahead of imminent move, claims agent

Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London and is poised to sign for a new club before the weekend, claims his agent.

The 35-year-old is a free agent after being released by Manchester City at the end of last season but has no interest in calling time on his career.

Clubs from Germany, France and Spain are still able to buy players until Friday, while English teams are still able to register free agents until then despite the fact their transfer window closed at the start of the month.

It has been a relatively quiet summer for Toure, but his agent, Dimitry Seluk, claimed on Twitter on Tuesday evening that his client was on the verge of joining a new club.

"Yaya Toure has passed a medical in London. Yaya is close to signing a new contract," he posted on his official Twitter account.

"It's not West Ham, 100%. Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him."

Fulham have been linked with a move for the former Premier League winner, but it doesn't necessarily mean Toure is joining an English-based team.

Toure spent one season at Olympiacos between 2005-2006 and the Greek side play Burnley at Turf Moor on Thursday in their Europa League qualifier.

The veteran midfielder only 10 appearances in the Premier League last season after gradually being forced to the fringes by Pep Guardiola.

He finished his final season for City without a goal in a single league-campaign for the first time since 2003/04.
