Atletico Madrid interested in former Barcelona midfielder
Atletico Madrid are prepared to offer Cesc Fabregas a way out of Chelsea with the promise of regular first team football at the club, reports Sport.
Fabregas, who turns 30 next month, has fallen down the pecking order under Antonio Conte this season and was heavily linked with a move to Serie A giants AC Milan in January.
The Spaniard instead opted to stay at Chelsea and fight for his place under Antonio Conte, which, to his credit, he has done and worked his way back into contention at Stamford Bridge.
However, Chelsea are planning more midfield reinforcements in the summer and that will raise further questions about Fabregas’ long-term future at the Premier League champions-elect, with Atletico ready to pounce on the situation and hand him a route back to Spain.
Any move would entirely depend on whether Atletico are successful in overturning their transfer embargo but the appeal of regular first-team football and a way back into the Spain team could convince Fabregas to make the move as he nears the twilight of his career.
Despite only starting nine games in the Premier League this season, Fabregas has been a regular provider when called upon by Conte. In fact, he has scored or assisted a goal every 84.2 minutes of action in the league, having scored four goals and provided seven assists.

That's the worst player-team fit ever imagined.
Still a very good player. Needs to play as the furthest forward central midfielder because of the lack of speed and tactical discipline, which means lack of versatility. Difficult to see how he'd fit into Atléti.
