Former United striker offered £20m to play in China

Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has rejected an insanely lucrative 10-month from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai SIPG worth €25m (£20m), according to Ole.

China have been hovering up a raft of household names from Europe and South America since the turn of the year as they continue to accelerate their growth as the fastest emerging football market in the world.

Shanghai SIPG have already signed former Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin, but they have failed in an attempt to lure Tevez to Asia despite offering £20m to obtain his services for just 10 months work.

However, the former Juventus and Manchester City striker has instead refused their offer, instead preferring to remain at his boyhood club Boca Juniors in Argentina.

In his last season in Europe (2014/15), only Mauro Icardi (28) played a direct role in more league goals in Serie A than Tevez (27).
