Arnautovic hints at West Ham exit

Marko Arnautovic has revealed he is contemplating leaving West Ham in order to pursue Champions League football again.

Manchester United were briefly linked with Arnautovic in the summer but nothing came of Jose Mourinho’s interest.

Arnautovic joined West Ham from Stoke in a £25m deal in July 2017 and overcame a slow start to become the club’s best player.

However, the 29-year-old is mindful that he does not have many more years left at his peak and is considering his West Ham future.

“I’m 29, so that’s the best age,” he told Austrian newspaper Kurier. “It’s clear that I want to compete with the best players. But in this affair I totally trust my brother [his agent].”

Arnautovic hasn’t played in the Champions League since the 2010/11 campaign with Werder Bremen, where he scored two goals in five appearances.

The Austrian was part of Inter’s treble-winning squad in the 2009/10 campaign but didn’t make a single appearance in the Champions League that year.

Arnautovic has scored five goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season and has as many league goals as Raheem Sterling and Alexandre Lacazette (11) in 2018.
