Manchester United make Serie A defender first choice left-back

Manchester United have made Juventus defender Alex Sandro a top transfer target this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Jose Mourinho has ran out of patience with Luke Shaw and will sign a new left-back at the end of the season.

Ashley Young, 32, has flourished in defence for United this season but Jose Mourinho wants to sign an out-and-out full-back.

United were linked with a move for Sandro in January when it emerged the Brazilian was unhappy at Juventus.

Chelsea tried to sign Sandro in each of the last two transfer windows before eventually giving up in their pursuit and prising Emerson away from Roma.

Sandro, 27, only has two years remaining on his existing Juventus deal and the Old Lady may be forced to cash in this summer if he has no intention of renewing.

The Brazil international has had a direct hand in eight goals in 23 league appearances this season, while only Paulo Dybala (7.77) has garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Sandro (7.44) of all Juventus players in Serie A.
