Bayern Munich chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the club are willing to let Renato Sanches leave the club this summer but doubts whether AC Milan have the money to fund a move for the 2016 Golden Boy.
The Bundesliga champions only signed Sanches 12 months ago but the Portugal international endured a disastrous first season at the club and is now deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Sanches has been pushed further down the pecking order following the arrivals of Corentin Tolisso and James Rodriguez this summer and Rummenigge has confirmed they will listen to offers for the teenager.
“He won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,” he told Tuttosport, via Football Italia. “I’m not the coach, but I think Renato needs regular football. I can confirm Milan’s interest, but talks didn’t progress last week.
“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures and I don’t feel that Milan are ready to meet our demands. We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a €48m (£42.6m) offer came in for him.”
Bayern only paid an initial €35m (31.1m) to Benfica for the box-to-box midfielder last summer but the deal could be worth as much as €80m (£71m) if all performance related add-ons are met.
However, it really was a bad season for the youngster after playing such a key role in Portugal’s Euro 2016 success and it reflects badly on both the player and Bayern that he is allowed to leave so soon.
In fact, Sanches finished the 2016/17 Bundesliga campaign as Bayern’s lowest WhoScored rated outfielder (6.43).
