Saints close in on club-record capture

Southampton are looking to wrap the club-record capture of wing wizard Sofiane Boufal before next week’s transfer deadline, reports the Guardian.

The Moroccan has attracted significant interest across the continent this summer, with PSG and Tottenham both previously linked with the youngster.

However, Saints now appear to have won the race to sign Boufal. Their initial £13m bid was rejected, but a renewed offer that could be worth up to £21.2m is thought to be enough to convince Lille to sell.

Boufal supposedly has his heart set on a move to the south coast, with Claude Puel eager to bring the 22-year-old to St. Mary’s.

The winger is yet to make an appearance for Lille this season, but impressed last term, averaging 4.4 successful dribbles per game, the second best return in Ligue 1.
