Chinese Super League side line up £34m bid for Sporting striker

Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA are weighing up a blockbuster £34m bid for in-form striker Bas Dost before Tuesday’s deadline, reports TWIM, via The Sun.

Dost only joined the Portuguese giants from Wolfsburg in the summer but the striker, who has previously been linked with a move to the Premier League, has been in sensational form for Jorge Jesus’ side this season.

Sporting would be reluctant to lose their star striker midway through the season as they desperately look to claw back the gap bridged between them and the top two.

A larger point is that Dost reportedly has a £50m release clause in his deal that is due to expire until 2020, and Tianjin are only willing to go as high as £34m on deadline day.

Dost has scored 17 goals in 19 league games this season, at least four more than any other player in the Portuguese Liga NOS.
