Arsenal forward out for up to two months

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be sidelined for six to eight weeks but won’t require surgery on his knee injury.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 22, was forced off midway through Arsenal’s defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League last week following a heavy challenge from Javier Mascherano.

The England international has struggled for form and fitness this season and is now unavailable for selection when Roy Hodgson’s men face the Netherlands and Germany at the end of the month.

“He will be out for six to eight weeks but he won’t need surgery,” the Arsenal boss is quoted as saying by the London Evening Standard.

Of players to have made at least 15 appearances in the Premier League since the start of last season, no player has required fewer minutes per successful dribble than Oxlade-Chamberlain (20.3 mins).
