Chelsea target heading to Fulham in sensational twist

Chelsea look set to miss out on transfer target Jean Seri with the Nice midfielder sensationally on his way to Fulham, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

Seri has entered the final 12 months of his current Nice deal and the Ligue 1 side want to sell this summer rather than losing him for free at the end of next season.

The Ivory Coast international came close to joining Barcelona last summer before the Spanish side sensationally pulled the plug on a deal at the death.

Seri has a £35m release clause but Fulham have sensationally agreed a deal with their French counterparts in the region of €20m (£17.7m).

Fulham still need to agree personal terms with the 26-year-old and Craven Cottage is not Seri’s preferred destination.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Seri since the end of last season but will not intensify their interest until they resolve their managerial position.

The Premier League giants are also reportedly trying to hi-jack Manchester City’s move for Napoli ace Jorginho, which would all but rule out a move for Seri.

Only Marco Verratti (92.7) averaged more passes per Ligue 1 game than Seri (86.3) last season.
