Ex-Arsenal target Zaha still looking for Crystal Palace exit

Wilfried Zaha has fuelled more speculation of a Crystal Palace exit after expressing his desire to win trophies.

The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move away from boyhood club in recent years after developing into one of the best forwards in the Premier League outside the established top-six.

Arsenal pushed to sign the former Manchester United winger last summer before eventually getting a deal over the line for Lille ace Nicolas Pepe.

Zaha was desperate to join Arsenal but the Gunners were forced to look elsewhere after Palace refused to budge on their valuation.

Arsenal bid £40m for the 27-year-old last summer, less than half of what Palace valued Zaha at the time.

Despite missing the chance to join the Gunners, Zaha is still looking to join a club capable of winning trophies.

"I'm 27, trophies is what it's all about," Zaha told Rio Ferdinand's YouTube channel. "If the opportunity to win trophies then 100 per cent. That's 100 per cent what I want in my career and what I'm working towards."

"It was nice [when Arsenal bid for me]. Supporting them and having them wanting you at the same time, leaves you thinking: 'this is amazing'.

"But things never worked out so you just have to move on as quick as possible. I was thinking this may happen. But my whole family was watching and it just didn't work out."

Zaha has spent the last six years back at Palace after a failed stint at United and it has felt, at times, single handedly kept the Eagles in the Premier League in that time.

Last season was Zaha's most prolific in terms of league goals scored in a Premier League campaign (10) and he has struggled to rediscover that same form this time around.

Zaha has returned just three goals in 29 league appearances in 2019/20 and his WhoScored rating is 7.06 compared to 7.21 last term.

However, the Ivorian's dribbling, which has always been his greatest strength, has got even better this term.

A return of 4.7 successful dribbles per game is the best in his career and ranks fourth of all players in Europe's top five leagues this term.
