Former PSG manager rejects Lille

Ex-Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has turned down the chance to manage a struggling Lille side, according to L’Equipe.

Blanc, 51, has been out of work since being sacked by PSG at the end of last season and was reportedly targeted by Lille over the weekend, who have been without a manager since sacking Frederic Antonetti last week.

Lille have got off to a disastrous start in the league this season and are currently second bottom after 14 matches, having only won three matches.

Caretaker manager Patrick Collot did at least manager to stop a three-game losing streak at the weekend after overseeing a 0-0 draw away to Nantes, but it has now been 393 minutes of action since Lille last scored a league goal.

With Blanc out of the picture, former Fenerbahce head coach Vitor Pereira and Marcelo Bielsa are reportedly the frontrunners for the vacant managerial position.

Lille are one of just two teams in Europe’s top five leagues that are yet to score a league goal in November (Osasuna have also failed to score).
