Liverpool ready to sever ties with attacker

Liverpool are prepared to listen to offers for out of favour attacker Xherdan Shaqiri, according to Football Insider.

The Swiss star has been a bit-part player for the Reds following his 2018 arrival from Stoke City, with his standout display coming in a star man performance off the bench in a 3-1 home win over Manchester United.

Shaqiri has struggled for playing time at Anfield and is behind Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in the pecking order.

However, injuries have restricted the 28-year-old to just 175 minutes of Premier League action this season, with his most recent appearance coming as a late sub in their 1-0 win at Tottenham in January.

Liverpool director of football Michael Edwards is believed to be holding out for at least £28m for Shaqiri, despite a lack of action this season.

Edwards has a track record of commanding high fees for bit part Liverpool players and he is confident of doing so again with the Switzerland international.

And with interest from Sevilla, CSKA Moscow and Roma, Liverpool will feel confident of possibly doubling their money on Shaqiri, who joined for £13m 18 months ago.
