Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva believes Roma are favourites to win the Serie A this season after finally landing a star striker to lead their title charge.
Silva, 29, who spent three years at AC Milan before leaving for PSG in 2012, believes the signing of Edin Dzeko, accompanied by the players Juventus have lost, gives Roma the edge for the Scudetto this season.
For me, Roma are favourite,” Silva is quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“The Giallorossi have made a big signing in [Edin] Dzeko, the type of player they needed. We’ll have to see how the new signings integrate for their rivals.
“I think for Juventus it will be hard to replace three players as decisive as [Andrea] Pirlo, [Arturo] Vidal and [Carlos] Tevez.
“[Paul] Pogba has stayed, and he’s a great player, but he needs to improve the defensive side of his game.”
Roma will be high in confidence following their huge 2-1 win over reigning champions Juventus in their last outing. In fact, Rudi Garcia's men are unbeaten in their opening two league games and are four points clear of Juventus already
