Stoke are interested in making a summer move for Chelsea loan star Bertrand Traore, reports The Daily Mirror.
Mark Hughes is keen to invest in the his Stoke squad in the summer following their underwhelming campaign this season and has pinpointed his attack as an area that needs addressing.
Stoke signed Wilfried Bony on loan from Manchester City at the start of the season but the Ivory Coast international has not featured for the club this year, while Saido Berahino has struggled to get up to speed since joining from West Brom in January.
Hughes deployed scouts to watch Traore in Ajax’s 4-1 win over Lyon in the Europa League semi-finals last week and the Stoke scouting staff would have been hugely impressed with what they saw.
The 21-year-old finished the demolition of Lyon with a WhoScored rating of 10.0 after playing a direct hand in three of the goals (two goals, one assist). In fact, only two players still left in the competition have a higher WhoScored rating than Traore (7.70).
Stoke won’t be the only side interested in Traore’s signature at the end of the season but the Burkina Faso international is reportedly keen to have another go at life in the Premier League, which could benefit Stoke’s pursuit.
