Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has revealed Pedro has suffered multiple face fractures but could return to full training in less than two weeks, reports The Daily Mirror.
Pedro was forced off during Chelsea’s pre-season friendly with Arsenal over the weekend after a heavy collision with David Ospina.
The Spain international was sent back to London from Chelsea’s pre-season tour after suffering concussion and Conte has now revealed the full extent of his injury.
However, Conte expects Pedro to wear a protective mask and return to training in 10 days, although he isn’t likely to be fit in time for Chelsea’s season opener against Arsenal in the Charity Shield on August 6.
The 29-year-old proved a key player under Conte last season having previously made a fairly underwhelming start to life at Stamford Bridge. Of the 18 league goals Pedro played a direct hand in last term, 14 of those came on home soil. In fact, only four players scored or assisted more Premier League goals on home turf than the Chelsea No.11.
