Chelsea are preparing a £20m bid for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama in January, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The Premier League champions are now sounding out alternatives to Juventus ace Paul Pogba after failing to land the 22-year-old over the summer and have earmarked Wanyama as the player to bolster their midfield ranks for the second half of the season.
Jose Mourinho’s men have started the season poorly having picked up just two wins from their opening six league matches.
Last season, no player in Europe’s top five leagues to completed more than 30 dribbles did so with greater success than Wanyama (92.5%).
